Q. How do I book a Destin inshore fishing trip? A. Give me, Captain Blake, a call at (850)499-3811 or email me at mail@captainblake.com and make a reservation, no deposit is necessary.
Q. What does Last Cast Charters provide? A. Fully equipped boat, experienced captain, bait, all fishing gear, fishing licenses, ice, the best fishing spots in Destin, and I'll clean and bag your fish once we're done.
Q. Where are you located? A. Last Cast Charters is located at the southern end of the Mid-Bay bridge at Legendary Marina (the huge building with wales painted on it). Click here for directions. (We'll meet at the eastern most dock)
Q. What do I need to bring? A. Sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, drinks, and a camera.
Q. What are we going to catch? A. The two main fish that we will target will be speckled trout and redfish. But depending on the time of the year and/or your preferences we will also look to catch bluefish, spanish and king mackerel, flounder, sheepshead, pompano, tarpon, cobia, black drum, sharks, and some trash fish that sneak in from time to time.
Q. Are the fish any good to eat? A. Yes. Most of the fish we catch are good to eat. The two main fish that we target, speckled trout and redfish, are very tasty. My personal favorite is blackened redfish.
Q. What do we do if it rains? A. I leave this decision up to you. The fish bite rain or shine so if you have some good raingear and an adventerous spirit, we'll go fishing in the rain. However, I will not fish in any weather that will put myself or my clients in any danger such as a torrential downpour, heavy winds, any lightning, or heavy fog.
Q. Do you take credit cards? A. No, only cash or check.
The Captain
Capt. Blake Nelson is a native of Niceville, Florida which is north of Destin. Growing up on the water, there was never any doubt that he would become an avid angler. He and his brother fish many local tournaments in Choctawhatchee Bay as well as many national tournaments on the IFA Redfish Tour. Capt. Blake is a USCG licensed Captain and has a passion for being out on the water and sharing his love for fishing with his clients.
The Boat
The new 2200 Bay Ranger is simply the best bay boat on the market, period. It handles rough waters extremely well and can still get into the skinny water to chase redfish and speckled trout out on the flats. It also has plenty of space and can handle up to 6 passangers comfortably. Fish the best, fish in a Ranger!
